The Custom 25L15 is the 1953 25L15 “Custom” amplifier as it might have appeared in the late 50s Standel lineup. It features the original circuit, housed in a single chassis, with front mounted controls and the “Hide-A-Jack” channel conveniently mounted on the front, with a handy Accent/Cut control. It has the exact same sound of the original.
This is a lighter weight, more user friendly setup than the original for those who want all the rich, twangy tones without the extra weight and expense of the ‘53 Reissue version.
This is arguably one of the finest sounding amplifiers of the 50s – perfect for any roots style music from country-jazz, to surf, to early rock. When turned up it overdrives nicely and comes stock with a Weber California 15”. A JBL D130 can be added as an option.
The 25L15 is a cathode biased, Class A amplifier and comes standard with the edge lighted control panel, with 2 separate channels and shared Treble, Bass and Accent Control (Presence Control).
Overall this is a user friendly, more serviceable option to the original. These run 6L6 tubes (industry replacement for the obsolete 807) which also provide more power to deliver 25 very loud watts.
