The Custom 25L15 is the optimized version of the 1953 25L15 “Custom” amplifier, with the original circuit, housed in a single chassis, with front mounted controls and the “Hide-A-Jack” channel conveniently mounted on the front, with a handy Accent/Cut control.
This is a lighter weight, more user friendly setup than the original for those who want all the rich, twangy tones without going whole hog.
This is arguably one of the finest sounding amplifiers of the 50s – perfect for any roots style music from country-jazz, to surf, to early rock. When turned up it overdrives nicely and comes stock with a Jensen style Warehouse speaker, which sounds great overdriven. A JBL D130 can be added as an option.
The 25L15 comes standard with the 1960 full lighted control panel, available with the 1959 style U-Shaped Control Cutout with 4 inputs, for an upcharge (we recommend the lower noise of the 1960 panel).
Overall, a user friendly, easily serviceable option to the original. These run 6L6 tubes (industry replacement for the obsolete 807) which also provide more power to deliver 25 very loud watts.
Note: while the 25L15 is the best-known Standel, customer response has shown the 30J15 to be everything the 25L15 is and more, at a lower cost.
